Our report on this page ["Mobile phones fried our brains"] into the dangers of mobile phones makes shocking reading. The phones emit microwave radiation which some doctors believe heats up the brain and can cause cancer. Not surprisingly the mobile phone companies deny there is any risk to health. And to be honest, there hasn't been enough research for any of us to know for sure. But that doesn't let them off the hook. Mobile phones, 13 million of which are in use in this country alone, have made millions of pounds for these firms. Tony Blair should order them to plough some of that money into urgent medical research to assess the risks. In the meantime, they should fit all their phones with anti-radiation shields. We all know it's good to talk. But we need to know it's safe too.
